Beginning Weaving was my first college course. Soon afterwards, I realized that I needed to have my own loom and a used 45" 4 shaft LeClerc Nilus found its way into my home. It was later joined by two 8 shaft looms, which have since moved on to other weavers. The Nilus has been refurbished and I am still happily weaving on it. After 25 years of weaving I still find the rhythm of the loom soothing to my soul.
I enjoy making woven fabric vibrate by mixing a variety of colors in the warp. Combining cotton, rayon, silk and metallic yarns with space dyed ribbons and nubby yarns adds texture and sparkle. Many of the yarns are hand dyed.
My woven garments consist of several styles of jackets, long and short ruanas, suits, dresses, rag tops, vests, shrugs, shawls and scarves. Each garment is one of a kind. I design my own patterns and do my own sewing, something I've been doing since the age of 5 when I began making doll cloths. I also have a line of wool and mohair jackets and ponchos designed for our Colorado climate.
